Fire Pump Operator (PO)
What is the Fire Pump Operator Course?
The Pump Operator (Fire Pump – NFPA, Chapter 5) course provides firefighters and emergency personnel with the knowledge and skills required to safely operate and maintain fire pumps in compliance with NFPA standards. Participants will gain an
understanding of pump theory, hydraulics, installation requirements, and operational procedures, with a strong focus on NFPA 20 (Standard for the Installation of Stationary Pumps for Fire Protection) and NFPA 25 (Standard for the Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems).
Through a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on training, learners will develop practical competence in starting, operating, testing, and troubleshooting fire pumps during emergency and routine operations. The course emphasizes safety, performance testing, and accurate documentation to ensure reliable fire protection readiness.
This course is ideal for firefighters, pump operators, facility fire safety teams, and emergency responders who require certification or refresher training in fire pump operations.
